Angel Fire Book Blitz

As winter closes in on Kirsten Swenson's hometown of Sedona, Arizona, and the world moves toward the solstice, strange forces begin to converge on the quiet desert city, seeking to bring about the destruction of everything she knows and loves.

Desperate to save her friends and family, Kirsten accepts the assistance of Martin Jones, a mysterious Man in Black who turns out to be far more than he seems. He helps to awaken the powers that have lain dormant within her…and also compels her to expose the shocking secrets buried in her past. But Kirsten soon learns that giving her heart might not be enough, and that the confrontation with the alien forces may demand her to make the ultimate sacrifice.

 About Christine Pope

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Two of her short stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Her first published novel was Fringe Benefits, a contemporary romance released by Pink Petal Books in April 2010. Next up was a paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, which was published in August 2010. In December 2010, Sympathy for the Devil, a paranormal romance novel, was released.

In 2011, Ms. Pope decided to strike out on her own as a self-published author, giving herself more freedom to explore a variety of genres. Her first self-published work, Breath of Life (June 2011), is a novella that takes the classic Beauty and the Beast story and sets it in a far-future Gaian (Earth) colony where the "beauty" is a colonist's daughter and the "beast" her family's alien neighbor. That book was quickly followed by Bad Vibrations (July 2011), a fast-paced but lighthearted paranormal romantic suspense novel with alien conspiracies, government cover-ups, and a hunky ufologist hero.

Releases for 2012 included No Return, a contemporary retelling of the Phantom of the Opera story; Heart of Gold, a steampunk adventure romance; Blood Will Tell, a space opera/science fiction romance set in the same universe as Breath of Life; All Fall Down, the first of the Tales of the Latter Kingdoms series; and Dragon Rose, the second book in the Latter Kingdom series. Her release schedule for 2013 is just as full, with a follow-up to Bad Vibrations in January and the final book of the trilogy in July, Binding Spell (Book 3 in the Latter Kingdoms series) in March, and then the third book in the Gaian Consortium series (The Gaia Gambit) and the fourth in the Latter Kingdoms series (Ashes of Roses) due out in the second half of the year.

Christine Pope writes as the mood takes her, and her work encompasses paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection. After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor and graphic designer in addition to writing fiction. She fell in love with Sedona, Arizona, while researching the Sedona Trilogy and now makes her home there, surrounded by the red rocks. No alien sightings, though…not yet, anyway!

Be Careful What You Wish For (Saga of the New Gods) Book Review

The time has come, Hells gates shall be thrown wide and the power of creation shall run rampant upon the earth.

In this, the first book of the “Saga of the New Gods,” a group of young college students bring about Armageddon in the most literal sense of the word. With a simple wish upon a unique wedding band given to him by his love, Michelle, Adam unleashes a power that could – if left to reign unchecked – destroy the entire world…

The story begins with a couple of young women, Chelsea and Michelle, bearers of a tragic past, fighting to create a future for themselves. They travel to an old pawn shop in the town of Athens, Ohio, and purchase a ring for Michelle to give to her love, Adam, in the hopes of becoming his wife. A poorly timed wish after the gift of the ring has dire consequences however, as magic enters the world. All that they know, or have known, begins to come unraveled as first their comfortable existence in this bucolic town is ripped from them, then their future. They reach their moment of greatest despair as one of their number flees, another lays near death, and another sleeps in a state akin to a coma… In this moment of vulnerability a man arrives offering a glimmer of hope, Mathew Banks, a federal officer, arrives with the dawn to take them to a place of safety and security. But what is secure when the very laws that govern reality begin to unravel? What is safe when those who watch over you risk change from day to day, moment to moment, and even those who are your closest friends deceive you and risk more than your lives, but the very souls that make you who you are?

This first story tells the tale of the creation of this new world, as the series continues you will rise to the heights of this world and others, and to the very depths of hell.

 My Review
I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.  Michelle is on the hunt for a unique engagement ring to propose to her boyfriend with.  She finally finds one that she loves at the local antique store called The Cellar.  When the ring is given and a casual wish is spoken, it could very well mean the end of the world as they currently know it.

What can I say?  This novel took me into another world.  The descriptions are detailed and the story fast paced.  I felt really bad when the guy they were hoping to help them suddenly began to change as well.  This was a great group of friends the way they stuck together, and no one blamed Michelle for the predicament they now faced.  All is all, it’s a great book, I can’t wait to read book 2!

 My Review
I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.  Aaron Glade was hired by Mr. and Mrs. Waters to kidnap their daughter Brittany from a cult called The Church of One Soul.  Although he feels it’s an impossible task, he takes the job because it’s the first exciting job he’s had since he left the police force.  Unbeknownst to him, it’s the beginning of a life changing encounter with the Gray Spear Society.  There he meets, three of the most deadly people he has ever seen; the drop dead gorgeous Marina, the huge hulking Victor, and the very agile fighting Ethel.  These three, along with computer geek Edward, and of course Aaron, become a force to be reckoned with.

This was a fascinating book.  I was quite surprised when I realized that it wasn’t a dystopian novel, even the cover looks it.  But you understand why as you get into the novel.  This was quite a fast-paced, page turning thriller, filled with action, adventure, and romance.  This is an amazing good versus evil novel, if you like x-men or characters with supernatural powers, you’ll LOVE this book as much I did!

My Review
I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.  What happens to people that destroy the environment when they die?  Ethereal Fury takes an interesting look.  Oliver Weldon, a rich oil tycoon destroys the environment over time with his oil drilling and fires that they’ve caused.  He thinks money will fix everything, until his heart gives out and he ends up part of Gemini.  Gemini is a group of supernatural beings that have begun a battle to wipe out the human race.  This is an awesome and unique good versus evil novel with romance in the mix; it has interesting characters you’ll love to hate and those that you’ll fall in love with.  Although the pace is a little slow, it’s fantastic first novel and I cannot wait for book two.

 About the Author
I was born in Chesapeake, Virginia on April 19th, 1979. I was raised within the American Indian religion and was taught great respect for the earth and all its living beings. Powwows, sweat lodges, vision quests, you name it, I’ve done it. I was the weird kid who would confront kids on the playground in elementary school when they squished a bug. I would very sincerely tell them what they were doing was morally wrong and then I would pray for the bug to come back as a butterfly in its next life.

I grew up admiring my father, Barry Weinstock, as an author. He took me around the country to different places so he could research and write his Wilderness Survival books. One of his greatest works, “The Path of Power,” was written with a great medicine man, Sunbear. When I was twelve I started hand writing novels. My first one was two thousand pages. My dad always encouraged me and would rave about my writing. He gave me the confidence I needed to keep writing and follow my dream. My daughter, who is twelve, is currently working on her first novel. I hope to continue the legacy.
