My Review:

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

They thought they had their lives all figured out; boy were they wrong.  Nicole, Brooke and Gin are orphaned sisters.  They each have a special ability; Nicole can manipulate air, Brooke manipulates water, and Gin manipulates fire.  Wicked Wind is book one of the Solsti Prophecy series, and Nichole is the main focus of this novel.

Nichole is an attorney by day and vigilante by night.  Having trained and honed her special talent as best she could, she and her sister, Brooke, spend their evenings in the worst parts of Chicago, rescuing the innocent from drug dealers, muggers, rapists, and the like.  She gave up on having any lasting romantic relationships; how would she explain her special talent? That is, until she meets a very sexy Lash Demon named Gunnar.  Yes, even his name screams hot!  He aids her in finding out who she and her sisters really are.  Their attraction is instantly steamy, will Nichole allow herself to fall in love?  Will she be able to accept who she really is and live up to the expectations implied by the prophecy?

This was an awesome fantasy novel with lots of romance and sexy men to keep you reading.  I loved Nichole and Gunnar’s journey through the demon realm.  While there, they meet sprites, nymphs, and a variety of demons that are very aggressive and far from friendly.  The chemistry between Gunnar and Nichole is amazing, and his desire to protect her is unreal.  The story was very fast paced, with edge of your seat excitement.  I can’t wait to read book two to find out what happens next.

Excerpt:
Jenna “You did what?” Karen looks at me, a bit dumbfounded.

“You heard me, I accidently ordered a pizza from the Freaking Wicked pizza place in Ohio instead of the one here in Twin Falls. I was having a bad night, and now I can’t seem to stop e-mailing the owner back. It’s only been going on a few days. Oh, and because I freaked out on him, now I get free pizza whenever I want, from the Freaking Wicked here in Twin. He’s the most cynical guy I think I’ve ever talked to, but he has a good heart. I really believe that.”

“What’s his name?”

“Alex James.”

“Is he on Facebook?” Karen asks.

“I don’t know, I haven’t checked. I’m not you, I don’t need to know every last detail about someone before I talk to them.”

“What about his website? Is there a picture on his pizza site?”

“Oh, I don’t know.”

“Well let’s look.” Karen pulls her phone out and Googles Alex’s website. "Here.” And she hands me her phone.

The face staring back at me is very handsome. Alex has dark brown hair, cut short, beautiful blue eyes, full lips and a strong jaw. He is giving the camera a slight smile and is wearing a simple black t-shirt and a white apron with his pizza shops logo across the top of it.

“Oh, well, okay.”

“Okay? At least now you know he’s human and male. I bet he’s packing some muscles under that shirt, you can see the slight bulge of his biceps from his crossed arms.”

“I already knew that he was human and male. I talked to him on the phone once, remember?” But I look at the picture again and bite my lip, yes, he’s definitely very nice looking.

“He’s kind of a looker.”

“Karen! That’s not the point of this. I’m not e-mailing him because I think he’s cute.”

“Well, it doesn’t hurt.”

I shrug. “No, I guess it doesn’t.” I hear my phone ding. “Oh hey, here is another e-mail from him.”

Unleashed Audiobook Contest!

unleashedThe Sydney Rye series of mysteries feature a strong female protagonist and her rescue dog, Blue. It is recommended for the 18+ who enjoy some violence, don't mind dirty language, and are up for a dash of sex. Not to mention an awesome, rollicking good mystery!

UNLEASHED is the first book in Emily Kimelman's best selling Sydney Rye series of mysteries.

When the series begins Sydney Rye is named Joy Humbolt. She does not like people telling her what to do, so it comes as no surprise that she was just fired from her last job. When she buys Charlene Miller's dog-walking business on Manhattan's exclusive upper east side, it seems like the perfect fit: Quiet environment, minimal contact with people. But then one of her clients turns up dead, and Charlene disappears. Rumors say Charlene was having an affair with the victim--and of course, everyone assumes Joy must know where she is. Joy begins to look into the crime, first out of curiosity then out of anger when there is another murder and threats start to come her way. When police detective Mulberry is assigned to the case, Joy finds a kindred spirit--cynical and none-too-fond of the human race. As they dig deep into the secrets of Manhattan's elite, they not only get closer to the killer but also to a point of no return. One last murder sends Joy Humbolt hurtling over the edge. Her only chance of survival is to become Sydney Rye.

Excerpt:

‘Good evening everyone. It’s 7 in the evening and we are here in the middle of nowhere. By the way, this nowhere is called St. Dominicks. I’m Madeleine, and along with my three colleagues Ryan, Tim, and the Irish lass, Kewy, we’re here to discover “what lies underneath this little talked about, unexplored mysterious land.” We took the initiative to travel far from the United States for this project, and guess what? Our initial drive has been rewarded.' Madeleine picked up one of the found artifacts in her hand. 'This stone tool made of flint has a length of 4.19 centimeters and is typically called a microlith. And then we have this axe-shaped hunting weapon.  These tools, and other artifacts like fish bones, strongly indicate the existence of Mesolithic settlements. We’re still
not in a position to jump to any conclusions, but it has been an interesting start. We’ll be back with more findings and updates. Thank you and goodnight!’
